Study the Effects of Camera Misalignment on 3D Measurements for Efficient Design of Vision-Based Inspection Systems

چکیده
Vision based inspection systems for 3D measurements using single camera, are extensively used in several industries, today. Due to transportation and/or servicing of these systems, the camera in this system is prone to mis-alignment from its original position. In such situations, although a high quality calibration exists, the accuracy of 3D measurement is a↵ected. In this paper, we propose a statistical tool or methodology which involves. a) Studying the significance of the e↵ects of 3d measurements errors due to camera mis-alignment. b) Modelling the error data using regression models. c) Deducing expressions to determine tolerances of camera mis-alignment for an acceptable inaccuracy of the system. This tool can be used by any 3D measuring system using single camera. Resulting tolerances can be directly used for mechanical design of camera placement in the vision based inspection systems.

Camera Arrangement in Visual 3D Systems using Iso-disparity Model to Enhance Depth Estimation Accuracy
In this paper we address the problem of automatic arrangement of cameras in a 3D system to enhance the performance of depth acquisition procedure. Lacking ground truth or a priori information, a measure of uncertainty is required to assess the quality of reconstruction. The mathematical model of iso-disparity surfaces provides an efficient way to estimate the depth estimation uncertainty which ...

Nowadays, the subject of vision metrology network design is local enhancement of the existing network. In the other words, it has changed from first to third order design concept. To improve the network, locally, some new camera stations should be added to the network in drawback areas. The accuracy of weak points is enhanced by the new images, if the related vision constraints are satisfied si...

We present in this paper a new analysis of relative sensitivity/importance of camera calibra-tion/alignment parameters on the performance of stereoscopic depth reconstruction. For a given stereoscopic vision system, once stereo correspondence is successfully established, the accuracy of 3D measurements depends on the overall geometric structure of the model in relation to object distances. The ...

متن کاملMulti-Camera and Structured-Light Vision System (MSVS) for Dynamic High-Accuracy 3D Measurements of Railway Tunnels
Railway tunnel 3D clearance inspection is critical to guaranteeing railway operation safety. However, it is a challenge to inspect railway tunnel 3D clearance using a vision system, because both the spatial range and field of view (FOV) of such measurements are quite large. This paper summarizes our work on dynamic railway tunnel 3D clearance inspection based on a multi-camera and structured-li...
